Terms of Service

The rules for using Gesta Carta. By using the service you accept these terms.

Last updated · 2026-06-21

Note: this text is a template to be reviewed by legal counsel before launch. It is not yet final terms and is not legal advice.

The service

Gesta Carta is an AI-assisted cartography tool: the AI generates and edits a declarative document (DSL) that a deterministic renderer turns into maps. You bring the analysis and the data; the tool makes them visually communicable.

The service does not replace your geopolitical knowledge: it amplifies it.

Accounts & eligibility

To use the Studio you must create an account and provide a valid email. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You must have the legal capacity to accept these terms.

Acceptable use

By using Gesta Carta you agree to:

  • ·Not create illegal, defamatory content or content that infringes others’ rights.
  • ·Be solely responsible for the maps you produce and how you use them.
  • ·Acknowledge that geopolitical disambiguations (contested borders, place names, spheres of influence) are your editorial choice: the tool asks, you decide.
  • ·Not abuse the service, circumvent its limits, or undermine its integrity.

User content & IP

The documents and maps you create remain yours. To provide the service you grant us a limited license to process, store and render your content, solely to operate the Studio for you.

Renderer & format licensing: the renderer is dual-licensed AGPL/commercial and the schema is permissively licensed — see the site for details.

Paid plans & billing

Paid plans are handled through a third-party payment processor. Subscriptions renew on the chosen cadence until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the period already paid for.

Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.

Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant the interpretive accuracy of maps: geopolitical judgment remains yours.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of the service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Italian law and applicable European Union law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer rights.

Changes

We may update these terms. For material changes we will give notice and update the date at the top. Continued use after changes implies acceptance.
